Grand Turk
Grand Turk is the historic capital of the Turks & Caicos Islands and the administrative center of the territory where centuries-old colonial architecture, fascinating maritime history, and beautiful Caribbean beaches come together. As home to Cockburn Town, the territory's capital, Grand Turk offers visitors a glimpse into the islands' past while providing plenty of opportunities to enjoy its crystal-clear waters, peaceful coastline, and laid-back island charm.
Unlike the bustling resort areas of Providenciales, Grand Turk has a quieter atmosphere, with historic streets, remnants of the salt industry, colorful colonial buildings, and some of the region's most memorable heritage landmarks.
Historical landmarks
Turks & Caicos National Museum
Located in the historic Guinep House on Front Street, the National Museum preserves the stories of the islands' people, maritime past, and cultural heritage.
Its collections include artifacts associated with the Taíno and Lucayan peoples, historic objects recovered from shipwrecks, and exhibits about the famous Molasses Reef Wreck—recognized as the oldest excavated European shipwreck in the Americas.
